AV360 Shop Display Unit
Scrolling lines
Within each page a smooth scrolling line can be generated with a virtually unlimited amount of text. Because this is part of a template the information on the scrolling line can be extracted from a database field, giving it dynamic properties.
A separate independent scrolling line can also be assigned to a screen that will be displayed in front of the carousel of pages and therefore continue scrolling while the pages are changed underneath. Just another example of how the system can be used to help customers maximise their betting opportunities.
Comprehensive Manager’s Monitor
The AV360 can provide up to 8 managers or customer terminals, using robust keypads to quickly access pages by keying numbers.
A message facility provides a mechanism where the central system can send messages to be displayed on every manager’s monitor. Up to four such messages can be displayed simultaneously.
Dedicated keys provide direct access to frequently used pages such as the cashier and settler pages.
The last 30 days racing databases are automatically stored in the archive, available via the monitor to settle many queries without the need to refer back to head office.
TV Control
The AV360 can control any type and make of TV either through the SCART connector or via the front panel infrared LED. It can also control Sky decoders or other settop boxes.
Addressing
Each AV360 can be in any number of groups and will execute commands for any group that it is a member of. Suppose, for instance, you set screen 16 to display one page in the north and a different page in the south. If you have a number of shops that are in the middle, in both groups, they will automatically display both pages, carouselling them on the same screen.
Multiple Data feeds
Data can be received from serial, UHF data broadcast or network sources. It is capable of using two feeds simultaneously and arbitrating between them to ensure minimum loss of data.
The BIDS command protocol used is so efficient that the system is capable of operating a full service on data rates as low as 2400Baud.
Reliability
The AV360 has been designed specifically for the betting shop environment. We have paid particular attention to the power consumption and number of moving parts in the unit.

Low Power Consumption
The overall power consumption has been reduced by adopting a distributed processing approach. This allows us to use a low power fanless central processor supported by separate processors each driving two screens.
A temperature-controlled fan runs at a very low speed preventing dust from being ingested into the unit, eliminating the need for a fan filter, which in other designs needs regular cleaning. The fan is monitored from the system and if there are any problems a warning is displayed on the manager’s monitor that action needs to be taken.
Remote monitoring and control
Using an ADSL connection to each shop, each AV360 can be part of a private network administered from the central site. Our maintenance organisation can access each unit and monitor its performance so that service calls can be scheduled and pre-planned.
Having remote access also allows our team to diagnose and potentially fix problems without the need for a site visit. This means that the service teams have full knowledge of the problems before they arrive, thereby reducing down time in the shop.
