BIDS Betting Information Display System
Sports Betting
BIDS provides facilities to handle a comprehensive range of sports events which can be added at any time very simply. The Odds Compilers use a familiar spreadsheet environment to calculate prices and have the results automatically imported into the system and sentto the screens.
Automatic Data Entry
The system uses a SIS raw data feed to provide not only racing data during the day but also the afternoon declarations for the next day. This minimises the amount of re-keying of data required and frees the operators to manage the displays and add interest by creating new betting opportunities.
Silks Management
A silk pattern editor is used to assign silks to a horse. Once set, the information is stored in the database and used automatically by the system the next time the horse is run.
All current silk patterns and colours are supported but we have provided the facility to create special silk patterns if required.
Shops Database
BIDS contains a complete database of all of the shops in the estate. Each shop can be put into any number of groups, and groups can be changed dynamically during the day if required. Each shop on a network can be directly accessed from the BIDS user interface to help with any fault-finding operation.
Template Management
As races are created from the data feed, default templates are automatically assigned to them depending on the number of runners in each race. As the race progresses from early prices through shows to results a different template is automatically selected by the system. Any number of templates can be created and selected for any race or meeting so that these can be readily identified or highlighted.

Scheduling
One of the most powerful aspects of BIDS is its ability to schedule the display of pages during the day. Complete meetings can be scheduled for display on a particular screen in a simple, one-step, drag and drop operation.
Alerts
A sophisticated mechanism provides the BIDS operator with automatic alerts when, for instance, non-runners are declared. Others may be manually entered to remind the operators of any action that is required. The alert can be colour coded to indicate the degree of urgency.
Permissions
Each part of the user interface can be enabled or disabled for each group of users. All user actions are recorded in an audit log within the database.
