Modem Operation
To support installations where the inserter may be remote from the control software, the second serial port provides support for modem operation.
The modem hardware control lines are supported by the second serial port and in addition, the software sends an initialisation string to set a connected modem into the correct state.
In order to ensure that the modem will always be ready to respond to incoming calls, the inserter can be reset and reinitialise the modem on a regular basis.
