Triangle Racing
When Chris Hurst established Triangle Racing in Eastbourne over 18 Years ago many of the customers who came through the door on the first day have remained loyal.
But times are changing and like all independent bookmakers he has to work hard to keep them from drifting away. It is impossible for Chris to keep up with the big boys, but he has made the sort of changes that you expect to find in a modern bookmakers office. The multiples in the industry can adopt new technology more rapidly. His starting point was to replace the traditional small screen gantry with the big screen experience; after all it’s what many of his customers have in their own homes.
But, this was never going to be enough on its own so he needed something eye-catching that would truly set his shop apart but also have a functional purpose. In March 2010 he installed the DailyForm touchscreen form guide and, in his own words, “They are a revelation, this was one area where I was ahead of the multiples.”
The DailyForm is a bright 26” touchscreen mounted on the wall; it displays similar form data as the newspapers, but without the need for specs! It receives continual updates over the internet with price changes, results and non-runners as they are declared. Chris takes prices from Super Soccer and we have used the same prices as those displayed on his main gantry screens. So now the DailyForm doubles as a price finder, which takes pressure off the manager’s desk during busy periods.
Aside from the form, which is extremely comprehensive, there is a verdict as well as a spotlight for each runner. The statistics for each course displays which trainers and jockeys have met with the most success. Chris says, “Even my senior customers use it, they just need a little time and patience, but once they have the basic points they find it very useful.”
During the football season a comprehensive statistical breakdown for all major UK and European leagues show form for past meetings between the teams. Player details include the scorers as well as yellow and red cards given out as the season progresses.
Chris is an enthusiastic user of the system himself and has given us lots of feedback since it was installed. He can justifiably be proud of the help he has given us to refine, what has become the most popular product in its class.
