Nov 2006 - MRG in touch with new products

MRG Systems used this year's Betting Show to introduce prototypes of two new touchscreen products - a 'Customer Information Terminal' and a 'Racing Pages' form database, boasting massive 32” touchscreen interfaces.

The Racing Pages touchscreen has been designed to give customers access to the latest 'form' and the idea is to add data for any sport that routinely generates a betting profile. MRG said that the eventual purpose is to offer an alternative to the traditional printed version, removing the reliance on newspapers. The touchscreens are capable of offering a more complete betting information system, plus providing the extra advantage of freeing up wall space for other promotions.

The other touchscreen is a Customer Information Terminal (CIT) that features the day's racing, early prices, results for the last 30 days, and potentially even the rules and policies of the betting shop. Easy to navigate and intuitive to use, MRG believes that touchscreen technology offers the best solution for customers requiring pre and post race information.

MRG's Ian Hunter was very pleased at the reaction to the prototypes: “They sent ripples around the hall even before the show opened with several other stands coming across to take photographs. The feedback was incredible and we will be developing them further with more great ideas, so look out for future announcements from us because this project is white hot.”

Also on display was MRG's BIDS product, which has been developed with more automation of routine processes made available to studio operators, freeing time up to develop inventive marketing strategies. This year MRG introduced the concept of 'Dead Screen Time' which means BIDS now detects screens that have been displaying a screen beyond an operator set period of time and inserts a series of different pages. These might be adverts for additional services, the promotion of future events or the availability of new novelty betting opportunities.
