Mid November and its hotting up!

We have just started our move to new offices, Production are the first department to decamp and are already establishing themselves at the Mill as I write. The rest of the company will move over the weekend of the 10th December. Jill Mackenzie has been employed to project manage this and is working closely with Adrian Potter (FD) to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible. New telephone systems, network configuration, satellite feeds and some general reparation are just the tip of the iceberg. This is a large and complex undertaking and Jill is proving to be very effective in this role. Every effort is being made to maintain support for clients and we ask you for your patience during this period.

BIDS 5 development continues at a pace with a suite of new UK templates being generated for ICE2012 at the end of January. We are all looking forward to showing these off and will enjoy the buzz they will undoubtedly create. BIDS 5 introduces the concept of business rules, these control the screen displays according to field sizes, markets available, time before ‘event off’ etc. They also include form, tips and profiles plus all the marketing which is directly linked to the event, so maximising targeted marketing campaigns. BIDS 5 also makes use of multi level carousels that allow the content of one window to be synchronised with another window to generate logical, free-flowing displays. There are big benefits in the studio, as staff have more time to turn their attention to marketing events, leaving routine tasks to run automatically.

The DailyForm touchscreen form guide continues to be developed and we will have the latest version capable of printing betting slips with us at ICE2012. A prototype version was shown at the BoS Trade Fair in October and this will have been refined in the interim. Customers will be able to present their slip with their selections at the counter for scanning. Expect further additional developments over the next twelve months.

We also have a number of other small projects running concurrently which involve iMERGE, our digital signage system. At ICE2012 we are planning to have two 65” screens on the stand, (4142). The screens will display output from a prototype product with a social media feed. Anyone using the Twitter hashtag #ICE2012 will have their message and comments displayed on the screens to share with visitors and delegates at the exhibition.

Additionally, there are several other projects based around touchscreen technology which use the latest LED backlit screens. These new screens have enabled us to design a slimmer profile and we look forward to implementing them in showrooms and across retail estates during 2012. We will release more information about these in future articles after successful implementation by the clients.
